Has anyone seen the red jellyfish at the beach?

I was at the beach last night (Aspendale) and there

were heaps of red jellyfish.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Even better, are there any brainy or scientific types

who can shed some light on whether these jellies

are dangerous or not?

Replies much appreciated.

It is probably the lion’s mane jellyfish according the the Melbourne Aquarium. If stung it will cause an itch but no long term effects. Treat with vinegar or sodium bicarb and rinse in Salt Water, not fresh tap water.

Yes I think I had the unpleasantness of being stung by them last weekend, I have little red bumps behind my knees that are still itching today!
